I  AM  AN  ARTIST!

Why & how I  create my art

Talking about
my work

I am a woman who plays with power tools and loves nature. Wood provides the perfect natural canvas for me to work on.  As I sand, cut, assemble and paint I can appreciate every aspect of the wood's beauty, including the distinctive grain, smell and feel. Most of my paintings are on maple, though I occasionally use other woods such as oak or fir.

I create sometimes simply for the joy of it.  Recurrent themes in my art are the interplay between man and his environment, the beauty of the living world, and the resilience of nature. Each piece begins with an idea or inspiration that percolates in my mind for a while till one day it spills out into a singular concept followed by a plan, sketch, and then seemingly by magic over time the image I envisioned is brought into existence. To pull off each little miraculous creation I work with mixed mediums, including acrylics, marker, ink and colored pencils. Each piece is finished with three coats of varnish to protect it.

I hope you enjoy my art. I welcome inquiries and requests for commissions.
