WHAT'S HAPPENING!

I will try my best to update

Finished Commissioned Piece

The Eagle

A sunrise was added at the client's request. We also played with moving the position of the island but in the end stayed with the original placement. The finished artwork also includes a text message that I cut out of the image because of its' personal nature.

I thoroughly enjoyed the process of working with the client to make their vision come true.

Picking Back Up Past Artwork

The Pangolin

I became fascinated by pangolins during the pandemic. These large, armored ant eaters are among the most trafficked animals in the world. They are wanted for their scales. The bodies of pangolins are covered with overlapping scales, like a pinecone or globe artichoke. The scales believed to have medicinal properties are used in both traditional and folk remedies for various ailments despite lack of scientific evidence of their effectiveness.

During the pandemic it was discovered that pangolins carry viruses whose genetic sequences were similar to the circulating coronavirus affecting humans. It was theorized that they may have played a role in either transmitting or maintaining the virus.

My vision was to create a piece of art centered around these amazing mammals by making a wire base and attaching wood scales. Cutting out and attaching the scales was time consuming and at some point I set the work aside.

This is one of my unfinished works I plan to return to.

Starting a Commissioned Piece

The Eagle Sketch

This is early in the project. The first step was communicating with the client to determine the scale of the project and nature of the image they are seeking.

Following that discussion I sketch out the art on paper using colored pencils. Once the sketch is approved by the client, I will start the process of transferring the sketch onto wood and painting it.

The whole process usually can be completed from start to finish in a month with updates sent out frequently to ensure the work will fulfill the client's expectations. There should be no surprises.

I enjoy turning a client's vision into a completed piece of art.
